After Doing China’s Bidding, Ron Johnson Can’t Answer Question on How to Stand up to China

By - Jun 11th, 2021 12:06 pm

Madison, Wis. — Last night, Ron Johnson whiffed when a Wisconsinite asked him how the United States can fight back against China’s unfair economic practices and protect against cyber attacks.

Johnson, like the typical D.C. politician he is, was all talk about being tough on China and the need to bolster the economy despite his actions telling a different story.

While Johnson reassured his constituents that he wasn’t going to “sit here and take it” while Chinese hackers ransack and ransom the US economy, in Washington Johnson led the charge to kill the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, landmark legislation to hold China accountable. The bill would invest in the 5G broadband network to “strengthen the U.S. tech sector as it competes against China” and even included $300 million to combat the influence of the Chinese Communist Party.

“Ron Johnson stood with the Chinese Communist Party on the floor of the United States Senate — no wonder he couldn’t come up with a straight answer on how to hold their government accountable for their unfair economic practices and cyber attacks,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Senate Communications Advisor Philip Shulman said. “Johnson can’t be trusted to do what’s best for the Badger state and voters will hold him accountable at the ballot box in 2022.”
