AFP-WI Praises Sen. Ron Johnson for Introducing Bill to Pay Essential Workers During Government Shutdown, Slams Sen. Tammy Baldwin for Voting Against It
MADISON, WI — Today, Americans for Prosperity–Wisconsin (AFP-WI) praised Senator Ron Johnson for his leadership in introducing legislation to ensure that essential federal workers, including members of the U.S. Military, Border Patrol, and Transportation Security Administration continue to receive their paychecks during the ongoing government shutdown.
The measure would have guaranteed pay for Americans who are still serving the public every day, even as Democrats refuse to reopen the government. Despite the bill’s clear intent to protect essential workers and their families, Senator Tammy Baldwin voted against the measure, putting partisanship ahead of the livelihood of our federal workforce.
AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak released the following statement:
“Senator Ron Johnson is showing the kind of leadership Wisconsin, and our country, deserves by standing up for the dedicated public servants who have continued to work without pay while the Democrats, like Senator Tammy Baldwin, hold the government hostage.
