MADISON, Wis. – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) on Wednesday announced a new grassroots effort to educate Wisconsinites and urge them to ask their lawmakers to advance the group’s legislative priorities. The group will mobilize activists throughout the state to canvass communities and have conversations with their neighbors about recent legislative action on criminal justice reform, educational opportunity, lower taxes, and decreased spending. The effort will include canvassing, phone banking, digital ads, direct mail, and other grassroots tactics.

The first wave of the effort thanks Sen. Patrick Testin for opposing Gov. Evers’ irresponsible capital budget and Sen. Tom Tiffany for supporting middle class tax cuts. The group will also hold Rep. Robyn Vining accountable for supporting Gov. Evers’ budget.

AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott issued the following statement:

“The decisions lawmakers in Madison make have a very real impact on the everyday lives of Wisconsinites and folks across the state deserve to know how their elected officials are voting and which policies they support. Our grassroots activists are uniquely positioned to help drive these conversations with their communities and ultimately push policies that make Wisconsin an even better place in which to live, work, and raise a family. We look forward to building on our grassroots energy and redirecting that momentum toward advancing policies that make it easier for people to improve their lives.”

AFP-WI’s efforts will expand to additional legislative districts throughout the spring.
