AFP-WI Applauds Passage of Portable Benefits, Urges Governor Evers to Empower Wisconsin’s Workforce
Madison, WI – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly and Senate voted to pass Assembly Bill 269, a bipartisan proposal that expands portable benefits for hardworking Wisconsinites across the state. Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) is calling on Governor Evers to sign this important bill into law and help empower Wisconsin’s modern workforce.
AB 269 is a commonsense pathway forward that supports our growing economy of independent workers and ensures Wisconsinites can maintain their freedoms as contractors while gaining access to the essential benefits typically reserved for full-time employees, including retirement savings, health insurance, and occupational accident coverage.
AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak issued the following statement:
“Wisconsin’s workforce is evolving and it’s time our policies reflect that. This bill is a game changer for thousands of hardworking Wisconsinites who rely on flexible work to support themselves and their families.
