Acacia Theatre Company Offers “A Delicious Bonbon of a Play”
MILWAUKEE (October 16th, 2026) – A unique addition to Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon’s Pride and Prejudice sequels, The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley centers the staff and some of the family they serve in a celebration of “the holiday [that] seems to make everyone just a little bit more so than they already are.” With the unwelcome return of Mr. Wickham, both downstairs and upstairs are catalyzed to reflect on the future they want. This lively installment is full of the popular series’ romance, wit, growth, and joy.
Acacia’s audience and artistic team have experienced that joy in abundance, with the company producing each entry in Gunderson and Melcon’s trilogy. Half of the cast is returning, an “outstanding” (Shepherd Express) ensemble including Bekah Rose, Shannon Nettesheim Klein, Olivia Nájera, and Jason Will, alongside Simon Earle, Kerruan Sheppard and Elaine Wyler. Also returning are Erin Nicole Eggers and Janet Bouman Peterson, praised for their direction of “precision and clarity” (TotalTheater.com). While Wickhams is “a delicious bonbon of a play” (Chicago Sun-Times), it simultaneously renders a complex portrait of staff and family, smudging the lines between them.
