6th District Difference Makers Honored for Community Betterment

A neighborhood safety club, several distinguished residents, and an enduring community partner were honored during last night’s 6th District town hall meeting led by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs. Honorees were recognized for their efforts to make Milwaukee’s 6th aldermanic district a great place to live, and each was presented with a 2023 Dr. James G. White 6th District Difference Makers Award.

Alderwoman Coggs, who presented the awards during the meeting at the Hillside Resource Center (1452 N. 7th St.), said the honorees’ selfless and dedicated work to better the district and the community is truly worthy of the community’s recognition, praise, and thanks. “Each one of us has a role to play in making our block, our neighborhood and our community a better place,” said Alderwoman Coggs. “Our award winners have consistently shown an unwavering compassion and spirit that defines what the Difference Makers Awards are all about, as they truly embody the beliefs and actions of the late Dr. James G. White.”

Last night’s 2023 Dr. James G. White 6th District Difference Makers Award winners were:

Alderwoman Coggs established the Dr. James G. White 6th District Difference Makers Awards to recognize residents and organizations that work diligently to improve and strengthen the quality of life for themselves, their neighborhood, and the City of Milwaukee. Dr. White was a resident of the 6th District who served as a county supervisor and the regional vice president of WestCare Wisconsin Harambee Community Center. Throughout his life, Dr. White facilitated countless neighborhood projects and programs and used his gifts, talents, and knowledge to improve and empower his community.
