2023 La Causa Summer Celebration
La Causa, Inc.’s summer celebration for its Crisis Nursery and Respite Center will be held on Thursday, August 3rd, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boerner Botanical Gardens.
People can purchase tickets to the celebration at https://onecau.se/lacausa2023. All proceeds will go to the Crisis Nursery and Respite Center (CNRC), which served 460 children in 2022.
The theme for this year’s fundraiser is Planting Seeds of Hope. The CNRC provides a safe place for Milwaukee families to leave their children in the care of others when life becomes difficult, offering them the opportunity and resources to plant seeds of hope in their own lives.
“In trying times, I was able to get help from complete strangers,” says Edwina, a single mom, thinking back to her first visit to the Crisis Nursery and Respite Center in 2014.
The Crisis Nursery & Respite Center is a 12-bed shelter and a free resource to the community that is open 24/7, 365 days a year. The CNRC provides a safe haven to children aged birth to 12 as families face homelessness, domestic violence, medical needs, or other emergencies. Children can stay a few hours or up to three days. In addition to care in times of crisis, parents can also request respite care for their children during times of high stress. For more information about the CNRC, visit “This event is paramount for our ability to operate year-round,” says Karl T. Schoendorf, Director of the Crisis Nursery & Respite Center.
