Alderwoman Chantia Lewis has joined forces with the Granville and Havenwoods Business Improvement Districts to launch the 1st Annual New9th Christmas Toy Drive, expected to provide up to 1,000 gifts for children who reside in the 9th Aldermanic District on Milwaukee’s northwest side.

The toy drive is made possible by the generous support of the Granville and Havenwoods BIDs and several sponsors, Alderwoman Lewis said. “The BIDs and the generous sponsors stepped up without hesitation when I shared my idea of a way to brighten the holiday season for children and families that have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis that has turned so many lives upside down,” she said.

“We know many kids will be left with very little or no gifts this Christmas, and we feel joy in knowing the New9th Christmas Toy Drive will help spread some love and the joyous spirit of the season for many 9th District children,” the alderwoman said.

Those looking to make donations of toys and/or funds for the drive can reach out via email to Chantia.Lewis@milwaukee.gov.

To be eligible for free gifts from the drive, recipients must be zero to 17 years of age and must reside in the 9th District in the City of Milwaukee. The recipient sign-up form (www.city.milwaukee.gov/new9thchristmastoydrive)  can also be accessed via Alderwoman Lewis’s webpage (www.city.milwaukee.gov/district9) and must be filled out completely and submitted NO LATER THAN 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, December 7th, 2020.

A 9th District map can also be found on the 9th District webpage (www.city.milwaukee.gov/district9).

SUPPLIES ARE LIMITED AND THE GIFTS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. Gift recipients will be notified by text or email of the time, date, and location of gift distribution. At the time of distribution gift recipients and their parents/guardians must wear masks and practice social distancing.

MRS (Midwest Refrigerated Services)
