Lovanova sashays from loungy prog-rock to soul-infused jazz, and will include tunes from their upcoming fourth album, adding the Kaos Kolour Organ light show to the sonic mix. It is a preview of their headline slot at the Some Kind of Jam Festival in Pennsylvania. The Natural Facts dig into roots music flavored by a multitude of interests, ranging from Americana and bluegrass to swamp pop and gypsy folk. Bayou’s State, an original aerial dance/theater piece by choreographer and performer Andrea Chastant Burkholder, explores her Cajun heritage as she travels through the declining Louisiana coastline, and it’s swamps and marshlands via an aerial net, bungee cords, and trapeze. Combining personal story, aerial and modern dance, theater, and river photography by Milwaukee artist, Eddee Daniel, Bayou’s State reflects on Louisiana’s coastal land loss as it relates to the local culture and environment. Begin the evening enjoying a traditional south Louisiana meal cooked by Andrea and her Cajun father as you sit nestled between the development along the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. Following dinner will be the performance and then light dessert and discussion with the artists. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Limited seating

The Friends of the UWM Golda Meir Library Used Book Sale will be open to the public Sunday, April 17- Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Over 5,000 books in a wide variety of genres — including contemporary fiction, foreign languages, history, literature, and the sciences— will be offered. The sale will be held in the fourth floor Conference Center of the UWM Golda Meir Library, 2311 E. Hartford Ave. Days and hours are: Sunday, April 17 2-4 p.m. Open to Friends members only. Memberships available at the door. 4-6 p.m. Open to the public. Monday, April 18 and Tuesday April 19 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Open to the public. Wednesday, April 20 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Open to the public. Prices of most items range from $.25 to $3. On Wednesday, April 20, a bag of books will cost just $5. Proceeds benefit the UWM Libraries. For more information, call (414) 229-4786.

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center presents Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre’s production of The Gin Game directed by Cathy Miles featuring Bevelry Ross and Gregory Valentine One performance on Sunday, April 17th at 2pm at the LGBT Community Center. 1110 N. Market St., 2nd Floor, Milwaukee, WI 53202. Use courtyard entrance. Admission is free but donations for the LGBT Community Center programming events are accepted. The Gin Game is a two-person, two-act play by Donald L. Coburn. The play won the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. THE STORY: Weller Martin is playing solitaire on the porch of a run down nursing home. Enter Fonsia Dorsey, a prim, self righteous lady. They discover they both dislike the home and enjoy gin rummy, so they begin to play and to reveal intimate details of their lives. Fonsia wins every time and their secrets become weapons used against one another. Weller longs for a victory to counter a lifetime of defeats but it doesn't happen.They realize a lot about their lives in the time spent at the card table.
