Women in Design Milwaukee — “Learning from Wonder Woman”

October 10, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Women in Design (WID) Milwaukee is pleased to announce that its October event will feature a presentation by Gabrielle Esperdy, PhD, Associate Professor of Architecture at The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), titled – Learning from Wonder Woman, or the Architectress, Gender & American Professional Practice. This event is sponsored by AIA Milwaukee and the Diane Trevarrow Evans Memorial Fund. Kahler Slater will host the event from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 10th at its Milwaukee office (648 N. Plankinton Avenue) as well as live-steam the event at its Madison office (44 E. Mifflin Street).

The 60-minute presentation will place the contemporary challenges women face in professional practice in historical context though two interconnected case studies: the emergence and efficacy of professional and affinity groups in the 1960s and 1970s and the career of Natalie de Blois. The presentation will pay particular attention to the strategies women used to accomplish their goals, including organizing and education, mentoring and networking, and community and association.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information or to register, visit: www.facebook.com/WIDmke/
