Join Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. for an evening of live music featuring Okay Omen, Social Caterpillar, HUMID and Overhand!
Okay Omen is Milwaukee’s premier post-loud rock-and-roll band – a made-up genre describing a soft but heavy emo sound that takes influence from ‘90s alternative and early 2000’s post-hardcore and garnishes it with a bit of Midwest emo for good measure. Okay Omen formed in 2022 with members of Garden Home, Live Tetherball Tonight and Bunk Bed, and quickly hit the scene with its debut single “(in)sincere,” which came paired with a music video filmed by Samer Ghani. After playing a handful of shows, the band is gearing up to start the year off with its debut album titled So it Goes… Okay Omen has teased that album with its latest single “Reverie,” a song that serves as a sample platter of the dynamically-driven soundscapes the band has created over the course of the album’s seven tracks.

Self-described as a psychedelic chamber ensemble for the disobedient and melancholic youth, Milwaukee’s SOCIAL CATERPILLAR—a four-piece collective composed of vocalist and guitarist Kyle Smith, bassist Eli Smith, violinist and guitarist Eric Ash, and drummer Whisper Crystal—have been playing and recording a unique style of music that defies simple categorization together since 2016. The band, which features current and former members of Midwest DIY staples like Cairns, Swells, Gauss, Scowler, Alta, and The Great Redneck Hope have sought to traverse diverse sonic territories accented with an expansive instrumentation and a punk ethos that gives SOCIAL CATERPILLAR their inimitable sound. Deeply personal lyrics with an ethic towards protest layered over acoustic and distorted guitars and a pounding rhythm section mixed with sprawling string and horn arrangements, SOCIAL CATERPILLAR embodies a method of experimentation that creates uniquely unparalleled and haunting soundscapes for their listeners.

“HUMID returns with their first full length album titled “One Dimensional Hell”. A sprawling Shoegaze album of Alternative dirge and ethereal daze. Coming forth is a collection of songs reflecting on life’s most chaotic moments and desires. Written and recorded in less than a year. HUMID’s latest effort shares a louder and harsher endeavor than before. Utilizing bright distorted guitars and hushed vocals brings the sound of HUMID’s latest album full circle in its natural form.”

Overhand is comprised of vocalist-guitarist Ian Wilkinson, bassist-vocalist Alex Stromski, guitarist Guillermo Alvarez, and drummer Liam Sullivan. Their style takes alternative rock in a heavy and emotional direction, influenced by 90s emo bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbreaker, Hum and Mineral. The band’s debut album “Plaster Saint” came out in March 2021, and recent EP “Your Subtraction” was released in November. Overhand are currently working on new material and continuing to hone their sound through live performances.
Tickets to the show are $10 in advance and $15 day of the show. Doors open at 7 p.m., and music kicks off at 8 p.m.
