Free Revolutionary War Heroes Community Celebration

October 14, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Free

On October 14th, the community is welcome to this free event as we continue celebrating the 250th year of the United States of America and the legendary service of Polish Patriot Thaddeus Kosciuszko as well as Spanish commander Bernardo de Gálvez.

There will be a uniformed Revolutionary War themed Color Guard along with the Fort Howard Guard Fife and Drum Corps.

The restored Kosciuszko statue, in his namesake Park, is a lasting symbol of the polish hero’s contributions to help patriot forces defeat the British.

Diane Buck will speak to the history of Kosciuszko Park and the statue rehabilitation.

UW Milwaukee Professor Emeritus Don Pienkos, a Polish American Historian, will address Kosciuszko’s military experience and amazing sacrifices.

And, to honor the Hispanic contribution to the American Revolution Author and Spanish Diplomat Gonzalo M. Quintero Saravia will speak to the often-forgotten contributions of Governor Bernardo de Galvez who denied British forces and maintained a vital flow of supplies across the colonies.

The National Societies of the Sons, Daughters, and Children of the American Revolution are non-profit, non-partisan organizations dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and teaching American history to future generations.

The Saturday, October 14 program begins at 9:30-11 a.m. inside the Kosciuszko Park Community Center, 2201 S 7th St, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
