Digital Bridge, Sojourner Family Peace Center Provide 100 Refurbished Laptops to Women and Families
MILWAUKEE – September 2, 2026 – Digital Bridge and Sojourner Family Peace Center partnered to provide 100 free, refurbished laptops to women and families during a private distribution event Thursday, Aug. 27.
The distribution was made possible in part by a $30,000 Nonprofit Access Grant awarded to Digital Bridge by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to help expand affordable digital access.
Throughout the evening, women and families shared how having a computer at home would make it easier to complete schoolwork, pursue education, search for employment, and access important resources.
“Last night was a powerful example of what can happen when we give technology a second life,” said Michael Regione, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Digital Bridge. “We’re keeping electronics out of landfills while putting reliable technology into the hands of people in our community who can truly benefit from it.”
With the school year approaching, the organizations also met students who were excited to have a laptop to support their learning.
“For the families we serve, access to technology can be another important step toward stability and opportunity,” said Cherie Paust Swenson, Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Sojourner Family Peace Center. “Seeing how excited the students were about starting the school year made the impact especially meaningful.”
Because Sojourner serves survivors of domestic violence and their families, the Aug. 27 distribution was intentionally closed to media and the general public to protect the privacy, safety, and security of participants. Digital Bridge and Sojourner are sharing the story following the event to highlight the impact of digital access and the role community partnerships can play in putting technology into the hands of people who need it.
