Statement From Joel Brennan on Today’s Appeals Court Ruling on Act 10

Milwaukee, WI — Today, Joel Brennan released the following statement in response to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals ruling overturning the lower court decision that had restored collective bargaining rights for public workers:

“Today’s ruling is a setback for Wisconsin’s teachers, public workers, and union members, but this fight isn’t over. Scott Walker spent years tearing down workers’ rights in this state, and Wisconsin families have been paying for it ever since. Act 10 took away public workers’ ability to bargain for fair wages and working conditions, and it gutted union membership across the state.

“I know how to clean up Scott Walker’s messes because I’ve done it. When Governor Evers asked me to help fix the damage that Walker left behind, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work — and we created the largest budget surplus in state history. I’ll do it again as governor. I will repeal Act 10, restore collective bargaining rights for Wisconsin’s workers, and make sure the people who show up every day to teach our kids and serve our communities finally have a voice again.”
