Meteorologist Kristen Kirchhaine to Join WISN 12
Kirchhaine brings years of Milwaukee forecasting experience and a strong connection to Southeastern Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE, WI – WISN 12 is excited to announce that Kristen Kirchhaine will be the station’s weekend evening meteorologist, starting August 3, 2026. Kirchhaine will join anchor Kendall Keys during WISN 12 News at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Saturdays, along with WISN 12 News at 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Sundays. Kirchhaine brings extensive forecasting experience, including more than five years at TMJ4 in Milwaukee, where she became a familiar and trusted source for viewers across southeastern Wisconsin.
“Kristen’s deep experience forecasting in Milwaukee makes her a tremendous addition to our weather team,” says Shawn Oswald, president and general manager of WISN 12. “She understands this market, she knows how quickly conditions can change here, and she has a proven ability to communicate critical weather information in a clear, impactful way.”
Most recently, Kirchhaine worked as a freelance meteorologist at WMAQ, NBC Chicago. Prior to that, she spent more than five years at TMJ4 in Milwaukee, where she analyzed forecast data, delivered critical weather coverage, and built strong relationships throughout the community through school visits, events, and public appearances.
“I am thrilled about returning to Southeast Wisconsin,” shares Kirchhaine. “After spending more than five years in Milwaukee, the area felt like home, and I’m ready to settle back in. The last year has given me a wonderful opportunity to spend time with friends and family and work on a few personal projects. Now, I’m excited to get back to forecasting the dynamic weather in Wisconsin.”
Before her time in Milwaukee, Kirchhaine worked at WBBH in Fort Myers, Florida, WFFT in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and KULR in Billings, Montana, building a strong foundation in forecasting and storytelling across a wide range of weather markets.
Kirchhaine earned her bachelor’s degree in geosciences through the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in radio-tv-film from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, with a minor in speech communication, where she received the Radio-TV-Film Award for the highest GPA among graduates. In addition, Kirchhaine holds the National Weather Association Seal.
Kirchhaine joins the Weather Watch 12 team, which includes Chief Meteorologist Mark Baden and weekday morning meteorologist Jason Dunning.
