WisDems Statement on 250th Anniversary of the Founding of the United States of America
MADISON, Wis. — Today, in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, WisDems Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:
“As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, the foundation of our country’s promise—the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—has never been more important. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or anything in between—we all share a responsibility to defend the Constitution and the shared values that make us all Americans. People around the world have been inspired by our fight for freedom and the idea that ordinary people can govern themselves and not be led by kings or dictators. Diversity is one of America’s greatest strengths—and the pursuit of freedom for all individuals in our country inspires us for a better future for our children and our grandchildren.”
