MILWAUKEE, WI — The Brady Street Business Improvement District (BID #11), in partnership with the Milwaukee Police Department, local businesses, residents, security partners, and Alderman Brower’s Office, is launching a six-week Summer Safety Pilot Program aimed at improving public safety and quality of life along the Brady Street corridor.

The pilot program is scheduled to begin on June 25, 2026, and will focus on addressing ongoing concerns related to reckless driving, loud music, loitering, underage drinking, open intoxicants, and other late-night disruptive behaviors.

“Brady Street is one of Milwaukee’s most unique and vibrant neighborhoods,” said Anna Antoine, Executive Director of Brady Street BID. “Our goal is to preserve the energy and character that people love while taking proactive steps to improve safety for residents, businesses, employees, and visitors.”

The pilot program will include increased visibility and coordination among stakeholders, enhanced enforcement of existing ordinances by Milwaukee Police Department, public safety messaging, and business engagement efforts. Additional measures under consideration include overnight parking restrictions, designated rideshare pickup and drop-off locations, and a district-wide Code of Conduct campaign designed to encourage respectful and responsible behavior throughout the neighborhood.

“We expect everyone who comes to Brady Street to be respectful of our neighborhood, and that shouldn’t be a difficult concept to understand,” said Michelle Eigenberger, BID Chairman and co-owner of Bandit MKE. “Those of us who live here, work here, and truly love being here are grateful for the coordination between the Milwaukee Police Department, Department of Public Works, and the alderman’s office for helping us implement these common-sense expectations.”

The initiative was developed following discussions among Brady Street business owners, neighborhood residents, Milwaukee Police Department representatives, private security partners, and elected officials. Feedback gathered throughout the planning process has helped shape the pilot and will continue to play a critical role during implementation.

“The Brady Street Area Association applauds the BID for their leadership of the Safety Pilot Program,” said Douglas Savage, President of the Brady Street Area Association. “Residents of our diverse neighborhood are united in our desire to preserve its special character. Stakeholders are standing together to send the message that the unfortunate behavior we’ve seen by individuals who clearly don’t share our sense of community must not be tolerated.”

Throughout the six-week pilot, the BID and its partners will monitor community feedback, public safety trends, and operational impacts. Following the pilot period, a public Town Hall meeting will be held to gather additional input and evaluate the program’s effectiveness.

Community members are encouraged to share feedback throughout the process and participate in future discussions regarding the pilot’s outcomes and potential next steps.
