Trump Spreads Election Conspiracies Alongside Gubernatorial Candidate Congressman Tom Tiffany

MADISON, Wis. — At his event in Wisconsin on Friday, Trump touted his long history of supporting his fellow election denier Congressman Tom Tiffany, saying “and I was there, I don’t know, seven eight years ago, right at the beginning. I endorsed this guy…so I saw Tom Tiffany, and I backed him.” Shortly before, Trump angrily ended an interview with NBC when pushed about new unfounded election conspiracies.

This comes as Green Bay officials have called out Tiffany for continuing to spread 2020 election conspiracies, including that the mayor of Green Bay had improperly hired election workers, which was challenged in court and ruled to be legal and nonpartisan, and that this official had keys to the central ballot counting location, which he did not.

Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich said in a post on X, “keep our city’s name out of your mouth when you’re spewing lies about the 2020 election. Or even better, just knock it off entirely.” Green Bay State Representative Amaad Rivera-Wagner also responded to Tiffany’s baseless conspiracies, saying, “If an elected official can’t tell the difference between facts and conspiracy theories, they have no business asking to lead our state.”

Donald Trump and Tom Tiffany have a long, close history of support for one another,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Trump continues to spread lies about the security of elections and Tiffany continues to be his willing lackey, spouting extreme conspiracy theories and disregarding the will of voters.”
