MADISON, Wis. — MAGA extremist Congressman Tom Tiffany is running for governor with an avowed abortion extremist, David Varnam, as his nominee for Lieutenant Governor. In Washington, Congressman Tiffany advanced a national abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest or life of the mother. David Varnam has been championed by pro-life groups and supports extreme abortion bans before most women know they’re pregnant.

“Congressman Tom Tiffany couldn’t have found a more fitting partner than David Varnam when it comes to enacting his extreme, anti-choice agenda,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “From banning abortion before most women know they’re pregnant to aligning themselves with extreme groups that want to deny women their most fundamental rights, the Tiffany-Varnam ticket would take every chance they got to attack our freedoms and drag our state backwards.”

  • In Congress, Tiffany advanced a national abortion ban that American Journal News said could “make getting an abortion legally tantamount to committing murder,” eliminate access to safe abortion nationwide, and threaten fertility treatments like IVF. The ban provided no exceptions for rape, incest or life of the mother.
  • Tom Tiffany additionally co-sponsored a national six-week abortion ban — before most women know they’re pregnant — that didn’t include exceptions for rape or incest.
  • Tom Tiffany celebrated the U.S Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
  • Tom Tiffany voted against Tammy Baldwin’s bipartisan Women’s Health Protection Act, and the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act, which would restore Roe v. Wade as law and protect women who must travel between states to receive abortions.
  • Tom Tiffany voted against the Right to Contraception Act, a bipartisan bill to protect contraception access for all Americans.
  • Tom Tiffany was endorsed by extreme state and national anti-abortion groups that oppose abortion in nearly all cases and has received an A+ rating from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.
  • Tom Tiffany boasted about defunding Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin.
  • As recently as 2026, Varnam believed that abortion should not be performed under any circumstances, including rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother.
  • On the 2026 campaign trail, Varnam touted that he was the pro-life candidate with multiple extremist abortion group endorsements.
  • Varnam celebrated the 2022 Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade and supported the Wisconsin Heartbeat Act, which would ban abortions after approximately 6 weeks.
  • Varnam called for healthcare providers to be prosecuted for performing abortions and agreed that the interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs should be banned.
  • Varnam wanted to defund women’s healthcare facilities, including Planned Parenthood.
