Governor Jim Doyle Endorses Judge Pedro Colón for Wisconsin Supreme Court
MILWAUKEE — Today, former Governor Jim Doyle endorsed Judge Pedro Colón for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
“I have known Pedro Colón for many years. I’m proud to endorse him for the Wisconsin Supreme Court”, said Governor Doyle. With over 15 years of experience on the court and 10 years in the legislature, he comes uniquely qualified to face the challenges that will undoubtedly come before this Supreme Court in the next decade. As a dedicated public servant for 27 years, I’m confident that Wisconsinites will see what I’ve always seen: a dedicated public servant who deeply cares about the people of our state.
Governor Jim Doyle served as Wisconsin’s 45th Governor from 2003 to 2011, and previously as the state’s Attorney General for twelve years. During his tenure as Governor, he appointed Judge Colón to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2010.
“Governor Doyle gave me my first opportunity to serve on the bench, and I have never forgotten what that meant,” said Judge Pedro Colón. “He believed in me before I had ever put on a robe, and his values of fairness, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the people of Wisconsin are ones I have carried with me every day since. I am honored to have his support.”
Judge Pedro Colón is a graduate of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was the first Latino ever elected to the Wisconsin Legislature, representing Milwaukee in the State Assembly from 1999 to 2010. He was appointed by Governor Jim Doyle to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2010, where he served for 13 years. In 2023, he was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals by Governor Tony Evers, becoming the first Latino to serve on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Colón and his wife Betty live on Milwaukee’s south side and have two daughters.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court general election will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2027, with a primary on February 16, 2027 if necessary. For more about Judge Pedro Colón and his campaign, visit www.pedrocolon.com. A headshot of Judge Colón can be downloaded here.
