WisDems Chair Statement on Gov. Evers Final State of the State
MADISON, Wis. — At the conclusion of Gov. Tony Evers’ last State of the State, WisDems Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:
“A decade ago, Democrats in Wisconsin were lost in the wilderness. It was Tony Evers who, after a lifetime of public service, stepped up again, beat back a nationally renowned GOP machine, and moved our state forward.
“The lasting legacy of Gov. Evers is something we will build upon and use as the foundation for the future of Wisconsin. After a long decade, Democrats are on the cusp of securing a Democratic trifecta that will end Republican obstructionism and make government work for working people again.
“I am personally grateful to Gov. Evers for everything he has done. As a Wisconsinite and someone who has worked at WisDems for the entirety of Gov. Evers’ governorship, words cannot describe the positive impact he has had on our state, our party, and all of us who have had the opportunity to work with him. He is what we need from our leaders—dependable, honest, and level-headed. We will miss Gov. Evers, and will do everything we can to help his successor build upon the better Wisconsin that the governor is leaving us.”
