MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers today shared a video message wishing Wisconsinites a happy Hanukkah as families and individuals across the state celebrate the start of The Festival of Lights.

The governor and first lady’s video message is available on Gov. Evers’ YouTube page here, and a transcript of the video message is available below.

Governor: Hey there, folks. Governor Tony Evers here.

First Lady: And I’m First Lady Kathy Evers. We’d like to wish a very happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating across our state.

Governor: This eight-day celebration is a beautiful time filled with lights and games, food and music, and of course, families and friends.

First Lady: Hanukkah reminds us that through community and faith, we can find hope and light where there is darkness.

Governor: And with all that is going on in the world today, it’s more important than ever to celebrate the light and resilience that the holiday of Hanukkah represents.

First Lady: After all, we could all use a little more joy, a little more compassion, and a little more light in this holiday season.

Governor: Each year, Kathy and I are proud to join the Jewish community here in Wisconsin in celebrating Hanukkah, and we remain committed to building a state that is more inclusive, that celebrates our Jewish friends and neighbors, and that stands united against hate.

First Lady: Over the days ahead, as friends, families, and neighbors come together to celebrate, may we replace darkness with light, despair with hope, and sadness with joy.

Governor: We hope that your celebrations are filled with making memories with those you love and with warmth and light.

First Lady: And we wish you peace, prosperity, and joy during the Festival of Lights and always.

Governor: So, with that, Happy Hanukkah, Wisconsin, and take care, folks.
