Revving up for the Milwaukee Film Festival

In just three weeks, Milwaukee movie-goers and film aficionados will flock to the theater for 11 days of intriguing film from Milwaukee and beyond.

Between the international offerings, homegrown talent and the local premiere of Fritz Lang’s now fully-restored Metropolis, this year just might outdo 2009’s lineup. There’s even programming for the kids this year with Take One, featuring a variety of family-friendly films for children of all ages.

In the days and weeks leading up to the festival, Mark (who serves as the director of Milwaukee Film’s Collaborative Cinema program) will talk with some of the dedicated people that make the festival happen.

He begins with Sinclaire Joyce, a senior in UWM’s Film Studies program currently working as an intern with Milwaukee Film for the 2010 festival. They chat about the film selection process, the mechanics of putting on a film festival and what exactly one does with a degree in Film Studies.
