Community To Coalesce In Support of a Resident In Need Tomorrow

By - Nov 7th, 2025 12:51 pm

Tomorrow – Saturday, November 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Alderwoman Sharlen P. Moore, Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, as well as community organizations Rooted & Rising, Near West Side Partners, WestCare, Marquette University, DC Groundskeeping LLC, and AARP Wisconsin will join forces to assist resident Laurinda Cole with a local cleanup at her residence, 1512 N. 39th St. Media coverage is invited.

Miss Cole, a senior citizen who also lives with a disability, was recently awarded a grant from the City of Milwaukee through the Compliance Loan Program, which assists homeowners in making repairs necessary to address code violations on their property. However, to move forward with the repairs, a variety of cleanup tasks must be completed first. Miss Cole reached out to members of the Common Council, and the support for a resident in need moved swiftly.

“Our job at the city is to support residents in need. When Miss Cole reached out because she needed assistance to move forward with her Compliance Loan Program award, we knew agencies and resources were willing and ready to help, and the response to lend a hand exceeded our highest expectations,” said the Council Members. “We want to thank all of the organizations and volunteers stepping up to help a resident in need. This is a shining example of all the great things we can accomplish when we work together.”
