Does Tom Tiffany Agree With Donald Trump That Affordability is a Con Job?

MADISON, Wis. — After a year of failure to bring down costs for hard working people, Donald Trump yesterday declared, “The word ‘affordability’ is a con job…”, and the question today for U.S. Representative and Wisconsin gubernatorial wannabe Tom Tiffany is: Do you agree?

For his part, Tiffany has been an enthusiastic supporter of Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda, from supporting Trump’s tariffs that hike costs for American consumers and giving billionaires more tax cuts paid for by cutting health care and food assistance for seniors and low income families, to refusing to extend tax credits that help millions of working class people have health care.

“All this last year Donald Trump has done everything but bring down costs, and Tom Tiffany has been there cheerleading and voting for the policies that are making it more expensive for hard-working Wisconsinites to make ends meet,” commented A Better Wisconsin Together Deputy Director Mike Browne.

Browne continued, “And now that Trump is declaring ‘affordability’ is a con, the question for his lackey Tom Tiffany is: do you agree?”

Browne also noted that:

  • Tiffany touted Trump tariffs that trigger higher costs declaring in an interview that, “…all these things are really good things” and in another interview declaring, “I support them.”
  • Tiffany voted to put billionaires first, delivering a huge tax break for them paid for by cutting Medicaid, increasing healthcare premiums, taking food assistance away from low income kids, imperiling rural hospitals, and sticking Wisconsin taxpayers with over $280 million in higher costs in future state budgets, all to give billionaires another tax break.
  • Most recently, Tiffany joined Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans refusing to extend tax credits under the Affordable Care Act. Tiffany’s opposition to helping hard working Wisconsinites is driving up health insurance premiums and could result in tens of thousands of state residents losing their health insurance coverage and everyone paying more.
