MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Brewers President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Matt Arnold has been named 2025 MLB Executive of the Year, becoming the first executive to receive the honor twice. The award, which was introduced in 2018, is voted on by executives from all 30 clubs prior to the start of the postseason. In 2024, Arnold became the first Brewers executive to win the award.

Arnold constructed a roster that produced a franchise-record 97 wins in 2025 and posted the best record in baseball (97-65) as the team qualified for the postseason for the seventh time in the last eight seasons and won the National League Central division for the third consecutive season.

Some of the key transactions in the last year that contributed to the successful 2025 season included:

December 13: Acquired INF Caleb Durbin as part of the trade that sent RHP Devin Williams to New York-AL. Durbin went on to finish third in 2025 National League Rookie of the Year voting.

January 2: Acquired RHP Grant Anderson in a trade with Texas. Anderson appeared in 66 games out of the bullpen this season and posted a 3.23 ERA while recording career highs in innings pitched (69.2) and strikeouts (74).

March 5: Signed LHP José Quintana as a free agent. Quintana went 11-7 with a 3.96 ERA in 24 starts this season and the team went 15-9 in his outings.

April 7: Acquired RHP Quinn Priester in a trade with Boston. Priester emerged as one of the top arms in the rotation as he went 13-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 29 games (24 starts) this season. The team won 19 consecutive games (16 starts) in which he appeared from May 30-September 18.

May 16: Acquired LHP Rob Zastryzny in a trade with New York-AL. Zastryzny appeared in 26 games (1 start) with Milwaukee this season and posted a 2.45 ERA.

June 13: Acquired 1B Andrew Vaughn in a trade with Chicago-AL. Vaughn batted .308 (68-for-221) with 9 HR and 46 RBI in 64 games with the Brewers, posting a .375 OBP/.493 SLG/.868 OPS.

Arnold, 46, completed his 10th season with the Brewers in 2025 after joining the organization as vice president and assistant general manager on October 14, 2015. He was promoted to senior vice president and assistant general manager in June 2019. Arnold was named the 10th general manager in franchise history on November 19, 2020 and began leading baseball operations on October 27, 2022 after David Stearns stepped down as president of baseball operations.

Arnold was promoted to his current position on October 23, 2025 (press release here).
