Cottage Grove, Wisconsin… John S. Leiber (Pronounced “LYE-burr”) announced his re-election campaign for Wisconsin State Treasurer in 2026.

“As a fiscal conservative, I’m proud of my work safeguarding and growing our investments. The Common School Fund distributes money annually to K-12 school libraries for materials and technology,” said Leiber. “This is the only dedicated funding for school libraries statewide and my top priority is to ensure the fund continues to thrive in the future.”

The State Treasurer serves on the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL) which was established by the Wisconsin State Constitution in 1848. The fund has grown to $1.4 billion and benefits public school libraries, the University of Wisconsin, and Wisconsin residents. Leiber said his goal is to keep this fund strong and well managed so it can grow and continue to serve future generations.

Leiber, a Republican, was elected to the office of Wisconsin State Treasurer in 2022. His previous public service includes working for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and the State Assembly. Leiber holds a BA in History from UW-Parkside and a JD from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He and his wife live in Cottage Grove.
