13th District Alderman Scott Spiker invites residents to the Garden District’s Fall Perennial Exchange on Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at 6th and Norwich (one block south of 6th and Howard). Participants are encouraged to label plants with name, height, and color for trading to expand and beautify their gardens. Bulbs, seeds, tools, or other decorative items are also welcome. The event is free and open to the public.

“The perennial exchange is a wonderful way for gardening enthusiasts of all levels to connect over a common interest that also helps beautify the neighborhood,” said Alderman Spiker. “I greatly appreciate the Garden District Neighborhood Association and their volunteers who put on this event to support the community, and I would encourage those in the district and throughout the city to stop by the event this Saturday.”

Hardy garden mums will also be for sale during the event, with proceeds benefiting local Garden District events. 8″ pots will be sold for $8 and 10″ pots for $15, all grown and supplied by a local greenhouse.
