MILWAUKEE – On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he has approved $29.8 million in federal funding for individuals in Wisconsin who sustained flood damage as a result of the historic rainfall approximately one month ago.

“The President’s social media post is welcome news for the people who suffered in August’s flooding. The damage was extensive, and Federal help is so important as our residents get their lives back on track. I appreciate all the work that’s been done to reach this point by the city, the county, the state, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. President Trump’s decision is a significant stride forward in this area’s recovery efforts,” said Mayor Cavalier Johnson.

The request submitted to the Administration included six Wisconsin counties. For FEMA’s Individual Assistance program, the counties involved are Milwaukee, Washington, and Waukesha. For FEMA’s Public Assistance program, the counties include Door, Grant, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha. Currently, the presidential disaster declaration applies only to individuals and households in Milwaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties. FEMA will announce a deadline for flood survivors to apply for Individual Assistance.

To begin the application process, flood victims should visit www.disasterassistance.gov. Please remember to include:

  • Contact information
