Golden Eagles start 2025 with a six-game homestand
The Marquette University men’s soccer team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) opens its 2025 campaign on Thursday, Aug. 21 vs. Bradley (0-0-0, 0-0-0 MVC) at 6 p.m. CT at Valley Fields.
MU Begins Year Two Under Korn
- The 2025 season will be the second season for David Korn as the head coach for the Golden Eagles men’s soccer team.
- The Golden Eagles went 6-7-4 (2-4-2 BIG EAST) during Korn’s first year in Milwaukee. Marquette players earned five BIG EAST weekly honors in 2024.
- Before coming to Marquette, Korn spent eight seasons at NCAA Division II Maryville University in St. Louis.
2025 Roster Outlook
- Marquette returns 20 players from 2024, including 16 letterwinners. Junior defender Ryan Amond is the lone Golden Eagle to have started in all 17 games last season.
- Amond, Kyle Bebej, Antonio Costabile and Diegoarmando Alvarado have the most experience, having played in 30-or-more matches for MU.
- Marquette added eight newcomers in 2025 including four freshmen: Andreas Fotland (Drammen, Norway), Drew Mullins (Clearwater, Fla.), Bryce Richards (Oak Park, Ill.), and Joey Buchanan (British Columbia, Canada).
- The Golden Eagles welcomed four transfers during the offseason: Bence Molnar (Budapest, Hungary/Ottawa University), Gabriel Miranda (Faro, Portugal/Salt Lake CC), Mateo Stoka (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Pittsburgh) and Mads Konrad Horgøien (Trondheim, Norway/Ole Vig).
2025 Team Captains
- Tristan Rønnestad-Stevens and Justin Milovanov were voted team captains for the 2025 season by the squad. Both are first-time captains.
Brink Back in Net
- Sophomore goalkeeper Marten Brink returns after starting in 15 matches as a freshman, logging over 1,300 minutes. Brink recorded five clean sheets and averaged 3.6 saves per game.
- The Stukenbrock, Germany native earned two weekly honors last season, including one BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week nod after a shutout on the road at Xavier.
Defensive Continuity
- Marquette returns key defensive pieces in Kyle Bebej, Ryan Amond and Jack Wandscheider. All three started in at least 16 games last season on MU’s back line.
- Tristan Ronnestad-Stevens returns after missing 2024 due to injury. The senior has appeared in 29 games, with 27 starts for MU.
Attacking Options Return
- Forwards Mitchell Dryden, Antonio Costabile and Lucas Nesthus return after scoring three goals each last season. Midfielders Grant Locker and Gabe Anguill each netted two goals.
- Transfers Bence Molnar and Gabriel Miranda bolster the attacking options for 2025. Molnar scored 61 goals and dished out 24 assists during his four years at Ottawa University in Kansas. Miranda most recently played for Salt Lake Community College scored eight goals in 2024.
