Public Hearing on Proposed Rules

MADISON – The Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) has scheduled a public hearing and comment period on proposed administrative rules related to nomination paper challenges and declaration of candidacy.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 1 p.m., and will be held virtually via zoom.

The proposed rules (EL 2.05, 2.06, 2.07, and 2.08) would revise current processes for nomination paper challenges and establish a similar process for challenges to declarations of candidacy.

Anyone can provide testimony on the proposed rule text either virtually or by submitting written comments to the WEC. Written comments must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on September 17 and can be emailed to elections@wi.gov with “Attn: Rulemaking” in the subject line.
