Rep. Snodgrass Condemns DOJ’s Request for State Voter Records

MADISON, Wis. — Recently, the Trump Administration submitted a request to the Wisconsin Elections Commission asking to provide them with Wisconsin’s current voter registration list, including both inactive and active voters, potentially revealing sensitive information. Representative Snodgrass issued the following statement:

“Time and time again, the integrity of Wisconsin’s elections have proven to be safe, reliable and secure. This request is just another tactic used by the Trump Administration to stoke fear and division into the legitimacy of our nation’s elections. Wisconsin has an interest in protecting privacy and personal information of its voters and the centralization of this data puts those interests in jeopardy.

“I’m grateful the Wisconsin Election Commission has not played into the Trump administration’s baseless demands by providing information that is already publicly accessible. The most important person in any election is the voter and we must be vigilant in protecting Wisconsinites’ personal information from getting into the hands of bad actors attempting federal overreach.”
