Gov. Evers Appoints Gregory Seibold as Florence County District Attorney
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of Gregory P. Seibold to serve as Florence County District Attorney. The appointment fills the vacancy created by District Attorney Michael J. Scholke’s passing. Seibold will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2029.
Since 2010, Seibold has owned and operated Seibold Law Firm LLC, a general practice firm representing criminal defendants and parties in civil litigation with offices in both Florence, Wisconsin, and Iron Mountain, Michigan. He has also served as the city attorney for the city of Niagara, Wisconsin, and represented the Office of Lawyer Regulation in disciplinary proceedings. Earlier in his career, he was an associate and later, a shareholder at Murphy Desmond S.C. in Madison. His practice at that time focused on civil and administrative matters, and he represented clients in appeals before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
“I am pleased to hear Gov. Evers has chosen Greg Seibold as our next district attorney,” said Florence County Coroner and retired Florence County Sheriff Jeff Rickaby. “Greg is a veteran and, consistent with his service, has demonstrated discipline, leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving, serving as an attorney within our community. I’m sure he will bring these values into his new office of district attorney for the benefit of the people of Florence County.”
Seibold has resided in Florence County since 2007 and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin Law School. From 1980 to 1986, he served his country in the U.S. Navy.
