U.S. Senator Ron Johnson Votes YES On Big Ugly Bill

After spending months criticizing the bill as a way to get attention, Johnson confirms that he will vote yes to gut Medicaid, food security for children, and tax cuts for his billionaire buddies — all while adding over $3 trillion to the deficit

MADISON, Wis. — Despite spending the last two months, doing at least 51 interviews, criticizing the Big Ugly Bill, Sen. Ron Johnson has voted yes on the GOP’s Big Ugly Bill. Johnson justified his flip-flop by claiming “this is about as good as we can get.” The bill will gut Medicaid – which roughly 1.3 million of his constituents rely on – and add trillions of dollars to the national debt, all while increasing tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. In addition, the bill will jeopardize food security for children and veterans.

“Ron Johnson’s need for attention ultimately didn’t outweigh his desire to take health care away from his constituents, food security from children and veterans, and give his billionaire buddies a huge tax-cut payday — all while adding trillions of dollars to the deficit, “ said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Philip Shulman. “While Ron Johnson sits in one of his multi-million dollar homes, Wisconsin families are likely going to be forced to choose between paying their medical bills or putting food on the table.”
