MADISON–Rep. Robyn Vining stood alongside doctors, students, Attorney General Josh Kaul, legislative colleagues, and gun violence prevention advocates yesterday to introduce legislation to end gun violence in Wisconsin. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement:

“Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children in Wisconsin, but it is not inevitable–we can do something. Gun violence is both a public health crisis and a public safety crisis, and we as lawmakers need to act now for a safer Wisconsin.

“I co-authored four bills that, if signed into law, will decrease gun violence and save lives:

LRB-0827: requires background checks on all gun purchases (Universal Background Checks)

LRB-0829: reinstates the 48-Hour Waiting Period

LRB-1598: creates an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO)

LRB-3342: bans untraceable ‘Ghost Guns’

“Wisconsinites deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods, at work, and in their schools. The time to act is now so that we can move Wisconsin forward, together.”

Rep. Vining represents the 13th Assembly District, which includes Elm Grove, and parts of Wauwatosa and Brookfield. For more information visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
