WAUWATOSA, WISCONSIN, November 20, 2024—A beloved holiday tradition will return to the Milwaukee area when the Canadian-Pacific Holiday Train makes its annual stop in Wauwatosa Village. The train, which is decked out in dazzling holiday decorations and thousands of lights, will put on a live musical show during its stop, all to benefit local food pantry Tosa Cares.

The Holiday Train will arrive at 4:15 pm on Sunday, Dec. 8, stopping at the track crossing on Harwood Avenue just south of the Menomonee River, adjacent to the Wauwatosa Holiday Market. The Wauwatosa Holiday Market is the Milwaukee area’s only authentic European Christkindl market.

During the stop, there will be live performances by musical acts The Lone Bellow and Tiera Kennedy, and of course, Santa himself will make an appearance. Admission is free, but a donation of food or cash for Tosa Cares is requested. The train will depart around 5 p.m.

Donations of healthy, non-perishable food items and cash will be collected for Tosa Cares during the event. Donation collection sites during the event are:

  • Harwood Avenue south of the train tracks
  • Root Common Park, at the intersection of Harwood and Wauwatosa Avenues
  • Intersection of State Street and Wauwatosa Avenue
  • Intersection of State Street and Harmonee Avenue
  • Local Girl Scouts will be moving through the crowd collecting donations

“The Holiday Train Stop is one of Wauwatosa’s favorite seasonal traditions,” said Chris Barlow, Executive Director of the Wauwatosa Village Business Improvement District. “And this year, families can enjoy the Wauwatosa Holiday Market as they’re waiting for the train to arrive. It’s a truly special holiday experience that also helps those in need in our community.”

In addition to the Dec. 4 Holiday Train Stop, Wauwatosa will celebrate the holiday season with:

  • Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, starting at 5 pm on Dec. 4 at the Pocket Park at Harwood and Wauwatosa Avenues
  • Grand Opening of the Wauwatosa Holiday Market, a new European-style Christmas market, on Dec. 6 starting at 6:30 pm in the Harts Mills parking lot, 7735 Harwood Ave.
