Milwaukee Press Club to Launch “Off the Record” Amber IPA in Collaboration with Black Husky Brewing to Support Journalism Scholarships

Milwaukee, WI – October 18, 2024 – The Milwaukee Press Club is proud to announce the launch of its very own beer, “Off the Record,” an exclusive Amber IPA brewed in collaboration with Black Husky Brewing. This special brew, with 6% ABV, will be released at a beer release party on Saturday, November 9, from 2-6 p.m. at Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.) in Milwaukee’s vibrant Riverwest neighborhood.

The “Off the Record” beer will only be available for purchase in four-packs of cans at Black Husky Brewing and on tap at the Newsroom Pub, which serves as the Milwaukee Press Club’s home base. A portion of the proceeds from beer sales will directly benefit the Milwaukee Press Club Endowment, which funds scholarships for high school and college students pursuing journalism careers. In addition, a QR code on each can will provide a direct link for patrons to make additional donations to support future journalists.

“This beer is a unique opportunity to raise awareness and support for the next generation of journalists,” said Maryann Lazarski, president of the Milwaukee Press Club. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Black Husky Brewing and invite the entire Milwaukee community to join us for a fun day of great beer, food, and giving back.”

The beer release event promises to be an exciting afternoon, featuring Pedro’s South American Food Truck, which features a delicious menu that includes gluten-free and vegetarian options. The event will also feature a raffle offering exciting, only-in-Milwaukee prizes, with all proceeds supporting journalism scholarships.

The “Off the Record” Amber IPA, crafted exclusively for the Milwaukee Press Club, reflects the Club’s dedication to fostering journalistic excellence while celebrating local craftsmanship. The recipe for this beer was developed by Black Husky Brewing’s renowned brewmaster Tim Eichinger, who has promised it is something special for beer lovers and journalists alike.

“Working on these one-off projects is quite enjoyable as there is the challenge to create a product based on discussions with those who are commissioning the beer,” said Eichinger. “While this beer is an IPA adding the amber component will add a malty sweetness to complement the hop usage.”

The event will take place at Black Husky Brewing, and there is plenty of street parking available nearby.
