Cheers to 5 Years at the Shorewood Feast

Shorewood, WI (August, 2024) – The Shorewood Business Improvement District (BID) will host the 5th Annual North Shore Bank Shorewood Feast presented by the Shorewood Foundation on Saturday, September 14th from Noon – 9:00 p.m. This free family friendly festival takes place on the 4200 – 4400 blocks of North Oakland Avenue. This year’s Feast includes food, vendors, artisans, two entertainment stages, many kids’ activities, Adventure Rock wall and culminates with the signature Harvest Dinner.

“The BID has worked for months to find, schedule, and sponsor a terrific line-up of entertainment for all ages,” said Janet Henning, executive director of the Shorewood BID. “We think this is a great way to celebrate and showcase Shorewood and so many of the things we offer here: unique artists, amazing food and great live music.” To view a complete listing of entertainment the public can visit https://www.shorewoodwi.com/events/shorewood-feast/.

While visiting the Feast, event attendees can help spread kindness by stopping by the North Shore Bank tent to write, color and send a kindness postcard and decorate their own coin bank!  Guests can take a break and unwind in North Shore Bank’s lounge area or expel some energy playing lawn games like Connect 4 and Giant Jenga.  There is also an opportunity for attendees to take home a commemorative “Be Kind” Polaroid photo, using an interactive photo-op installation to capture the perfect shot.  To learn more, visit https://www.shorewoodwi.com/events/shorewood-feast/.

Harvest Dinner

One highlight of the event is the 6-course plated dinner running down the middle of Oakland Avenue. Each course will be prepared by chefs, bakers and merchants with local ties to the Shorewood community. Many of the ingredients will be sourced fresh and guests will be served on biodegradable plates with Compost Crusaders onsite to compost food scraps.

The menu this year includes plates from nationally renowned chefs like Chef Adam Pawlak, the owner of Egg & Flour Pasta Bar who competed on Season 19 of Hell’s Kitchen and most recently on the Food Network Show Beat Bobby Flay. Kyle Knall, James Beard Award Semifinalist and owner of Birch, one of the best restaurants in America according to the New York Times, with open hearth live-fire fare and Gregory León, James Beard finalist and owner of Amilinda, a restaurant specializing in locally sourced ingredients paired with specialty items from the Iberian Peninsula for Spanish and Portuguese cuisine

New to the Feast this year is Ruta Kahate, a native of India, where she’s operated six cafes in Goa, led culinary tours, published three cookbooks, and now owner of Ruta’s Fresh Indian Fare in Walker’s Point. Imani Graham, owner of Mentionables Eats which crafts approachable luxury cuisine for any occasion from casual dinners to special events and Kurt Fogle, who studied L’Art de la Patisserie at The French Pastry School and creator of tasty treats with Dairyland and Mid-Way Bakery.  Lastly, the wine pairing will be provided by Scout Wine Merchants who opened in Shorewood in November of 2020.

Music

The entertainment will showcase many Shorewood locals plus some Milwaukee favorites. Headlining the Draft & Vessel Main Stage this year is Mixtape, a fun, energetic band ready to bring the dance party with some of America’s most popular hits. Earlier in the day, Trapper Schoepp will take the stage focusing on a folk music as a unique type of art form, along with Evan Christian with a mixture of timeless latin, soul, and R&B.  Midafternoon promises great music from Moonglow as well as Extra Crispy Brass Band.

School of Rock will take the Locals Stage early in the followed by The Flood, serving up rockabilly, early jazz, classic country and folk.  Headlining is Mighty Ms. Erica and the Sound Production playing a mix of blues, boul and R&B.
