MILWAUKEE, WI (June 18, 2024) – WISN 12 is pleased to announce Duke Carter as the station’s new weekend morning news anchor effective July 1, 2024. Carter will work alongside meteorologist Molly Bernard on ‘WISN 12 News This Morning’ from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Along with his weekend anchor duties, Carter will also report for 12 News throughout the week.

“Duke has it all – a curious mind, exceptional interviewing skills, and the natural instincts and experience to deliver strong reporting, says Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12. “We’re so lucky to have him on the team.  He has an infectious energy, and I know our viewers will feel an instant connection!”

Before coming to WISN 12, Carter served as an anchor and reporter at WSLS 10 News in Southwest and Central Virginia. While at WSLS 10, Carter was honored as a Regional Murrow Award Winner for the station’s 2023 Black History Month special, Hidden History, which focused on what the enslaved people of Southwest Virginia experienced. Before his time at WSLS 10 he worked in a variety of broadcast journalism positions at television stations that included: WWL-TV and WVLA-TV in Louisiana, as well as WCJB TV20 and WUFT-TV in Florida.

“I am humbled and honored to join WISN,” shares Carter. “I’m looking forward to working with this dedicated team of talented journalists who are willing to work hard and lead the way with important news coverage.”

Carter developed a passion for storytelling at an early age. After watching ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ Carter discovered his interest in meeting and talking with new people. At 14 years old, he authored and self-published his own book titled ‘Treasure of Gold.’ Carter was born in Jacksonville, Florida and is a graduate from the University of Florida.

“I look forward to earning the trust of the people in Southeastern Wisconsin. I hope my work will inspire, educate, and have a positive impact on the community.”
