Representative Shelia Stubbs Awards Citation to Reverend Dr. Alexander Gee, Jr.
MADISON, WI – Today, Representative Shelia Stubbs awarded a citation to Reverend Dr. Alexander Gee, Jr. in collaboration with Senator Kelda Roys in recognition of his receiving an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released the following statement:
Reverend Dr. Gee has served South Madison in countless capacities, from founding Fountain of Life Church in 1997 and receiving the distinction of Madison’s longest-serving faith leader, to playing an integral role in the founding of and serving since 1992 as the President of Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development, to being the proprietor of The Alex Gee Group since 1995, offering leadership and consulting services, to founding The Center for Black Excellence and Culture in 2019.
Reverend Dr. Gee not only developed the vision, mission, and strategic goals for the organization in partnership with community members and organizations, local leaders, and educational institutions, but also spearheaded the organization’s successful $33M capital campaign and managed all aspects of the Center’s operations, including programming development, budgeting, fundraising, and grant applications.
Reverend Dr. Gee truly embodies The Wisconsin Idea and what it means to employ your gifts and skills to give back generously to a community that has supported you. Through his lifelong legacy of transformational leadership, education, and ministry, Reverend Dr. Gee has touched and improved innumerable lives.
