February Local Employment and Unemployment Data Released
MADISON – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) today released the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) preliminary estimates of employment and unemployment statistics for Wisconsin metropolitan areas, major cities, and counties in Wisconsin for February 2024.
In brief, the nonseasonally adjusted data for Wisconsin shows:
- Metropolitan Statistical Areas: Preliminary February 2024 unemployment rates increased in all 12 Wisconsin metro areas over the month; the rates decreased or stayed the same in eight areas compared to one year ago.
- Municipalities: Preliminary February 2024 unemployment rates increased in Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities over the month. Over the year, rates decreased or stayed the same in 11 of the 35 state’s largest cities.
- Counties: Preliminary February 2024 unemployment rates increased in all 72 counties over the month and decreased or stayed the same in 48 counties over the year.
