Milwaukee Robotics Competition March 19-21
59 teams compete at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena
Robots reign at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena March 19-21 when 59 high school teams including 29 from Wisconsin compete in the FIRST® Robotics Competition.
The FIRST® Robotics Competition is a program that challenges high school students, working with professional mentors, to design and build a robot to contend in competitions that measure the effectiveness of each robot, the power of collaboration and the determination of students. Student teams from local school districts and surrounding states participate for the opportunity to win regional recognition for design excellence, sportsmanship and teamwork and advance to the national championship in April in St. Louis.
The 2015 game, RECYCLE RUSH℠, is a recycling-themed game played by two alliances of three robots each. Robots score points by stacking totes on scoring platforms, capping those stacks with recycling containers, and properly disposing of pool noodles, representing litter.
Competition Schedule:
Thursday 3/19 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Robot testing, inspection and practice
Friday 3/20 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Opening ceremonies and qualifying
Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Finals and awards
