"Epiphanic Recurve Redux" Sculpture to Return to Downtown Milwaukee
Milwaukee Riverwalk District is thrilled to announce the restoration and reinstallation of the sculpture “Epiphanic Recurve Redux.” Artist Bilhenry Walker is donating the sculpture to the Milwaukee Riverwalk District, who will care for the sculpture as its steward. Created in 1994, this remarkable sculpture once again graces the Milwaukee landscape, this time on the north side of the City Hall Square Apartments.
Displayed on Milwaukee’s Riverwalk since 1997, “Epiphanic Recurve Redux” has become a fixture in the city’s artistic landscape, captivating passersby with its striking 20-foot-tall presence. It was removed for restoration earlier this year and was reinstalled on December 19th.
Artist Bilhenry Walker, who has dedicated the past forty-five years to sculptural exploration, has a rich and diverse portfolio, including wall sculptures, clear acrylic sculptures, poly-resin sculptures, monumental sculptures, neon sculptures, organic-based sculptures, and more. Notably, Bilhenry Walker has been a trailblazer in solar-powered sculptures, integrating LED lighting into his work, bringing a new dimension to outdoor art.
The reinstallation of “Epiphanic Recurve Redux” and its donation to the Milwaukee Riverwalk District is part of the city’s growing and vibrant art scene and serves as a symbol of the enduring power of art to inspire and provoke thought.
“We are honored to receive this extraordinary sculpture as a gift from Bilhenry Walker and are excited to see it find its new home by City Hall apartments,” said Mame McCully, Board Chair of the Milwaukee Riverwalk District. For more information about the Milwaukee Riverwalk District and art on the Riverwalk, please visit MilwaukeeRiverwalk.com.
