Important city documents for businesses now available in Spanish

Several documents which are important for Milwaukee business owners dealing with zoning issues are now available in Spanish as well as English, Alderman José G. Pérez said, thanks to a translation program approved as an amendment to the 2015 City of Milwaukee budget.
“Milwaukee is fortunate to have a growing population of small business owners from the Spanish-speaking community,” Alderman Pérez said. “Having a translated set of instructions and applications to help guide them through the Board of Zoning Appeals process is a great asset and an important step toward making it easier to do business in the city.”
Alderman Pérez authored the budget amendment that set aside $10,000 for the translation of important city documents. As a result, an information packet on the Board of Zoning Appeals, the BOZA application that business owners are required to fill out when applying for an occupancy permit and a related affidavit are now available in Spanish, and Alderman Pérez said other important documents will soon be translated.
“The Board of Zoning Appeals is committed to helping small businesses in the city grow,” BOZA chair Catherine Doyle said. “Having these important documents translated will provide our Spanish-speaking customers and business owners with clear information regarding BOZA requirements and procedures.”
