Milwaukee, Wis. – September 20, 2023

WI Tech Month, Wisconsin’s annual celebration of technological innovation, STEM education, and entrepreneurship across the state, returns this October with an intensified focus on artificial intelligence (AI). Led by the Milky Way Tech Hub and Latinos in Tech, the initiative aims to elevate Wisconsin’s burgeoning tech industry. This year, WI Tech Month is proud to announce a record number of partnerships with Uline, Milwaukee County, Associated Bank, SoftwareOne, Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), the Wisconsin Science Festival and Wisconsin Athletic Clubs.

Milwaukee Tech Week: A Strong Start to the Month
Milwaukee Tech Week takes the lead by being the first week of WI Tech Month, setting the tone for the entire month with a strong emphasis on AI and Advocacy. The week will kick off on October 2nd with Mayor Johnson at Saint Kate, where the Milwaukee community will convene to discuss transforming the city into a regional tech hub. Later in the week on October 5th Milky Way Tech Hub will travel with community to the state capitol to engage in policy advocacy.

Why the Focus on AI?
“As technology continues to evolve, artificial intelligence emerges as a pivotal force shaping our lives and economies. By placing a special focus on AI, we aim to prepare Wisconsin for the future of tech, spurring innovation and education that are vital for sustained growth,” said Ben Juarez, cofounder of Latinos in Tech.

More Partners, More Possibilities
“Our new partnerships are game-changers for WI Tech Month,” adds Nadiyah Johnson, founder of the Milky Way Tech Hub. “Wisconsin Athletic Club has joined us as the exclusive fitness partner, offering Milky Way Tech Hub members 21-day access to all WAC clubs, weaving a wellness focus into the tech-centric month.”

As a member of the Milky Way Tech Hub, Milwaukee County finds a synergy with the Equity in Tech Summit’s mission to promote equity in our state-wide ecosystem.

The summit complements Milwaukee County’s broader initiatives to foster social justice and equal opportunity.

Techquity’s mission to drive equitable tech policy makes them an ideal supporter for the advocacy segment of Milwaukee Tech Week. Their involvement underscores a shared vision for creating an inclusive tech ecosystem.

Uline and Software One are empowering Women in Tech Week through sponsorship and logistical support. Their involvement reflects a commitment to gender diversity and supports their mission to foster a balanced tech landscape.
