The 11th annual MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit is set to take place later this month on Saturday, January 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School located at 3275 N. 3rd St. The event, hosted by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, is free and open to the public.

The MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit is held to support the growth of local entrepreneurship and help innovators stimulate economic development, neighborhood reinvestment, and job creation. The event is sponsored by the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District 8, the City of Milwaukee, the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin, and Alderwoman Coggs.

In addition to business resource vendors, workshops, and a panel discussion, this year’s program will feature a special keynote address from Chef Joya, an award-winning private celebrity chef, the author of four cookbooks, and a cultural influencer from Milwaukee known for “veganizing” traditional recipes that typically contain animal products. Chef Joya’s keynote titled “Making Creativity & Passion Your Business” will expand on her experiences that helped turn her love of food into a brand, and led to her garnering several awards, successful restaurant collaborations, and cooking competition titles as an entrepreneur and chef.

“This year’s MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit promises to be a very special event highlighted by Milwaukee’s own Chef Joya who will share her story and provide invaluable information that helped her succeed as an entrepreneur,” said Alderwoman Coggs. “I encourage any Milwaukee residents looking to learn about entrepreneurship or business development to mark their calendar now and plan to attend the summit on January 28th.”
