MILWAUKEE, WI – The Milwaukee chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is incredibly proud to celebrate the election of Ryan Clancy and Darrin Madison Jr. to the Wisconsin State Assembly on Tuesday.

Together, they will form the first socialist caucus in the Wisconsin legislature in 86 years.

“We owe this victory to the working people of District 10,” said District 10 Representative-elect Darrin Madison Jr. “By focusing on the needs of working people, like wages, health care, jobs, and a fair justice system, we built a diverse coalition eager to make real, tangible improvements in the lives of Wisconsinites.”

“This is a historic win for working people in Wisconsin,” said District 19 Representative-elect Ryan Clancy. “DSA candidates are winning in Milwaukee because we unapologetically represent the needs of working people, from protecting our public schools to investing in public transit to growing the resurgent labor movement in Wisconsin.”

Tuesday night’s victory comes after Milwaukee DSA-endorsed Juan Miguel Martinez and Ryan Clancy won their election and reelection, respectively, to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in April.
