1st Vice Chair Taylor Amendment Funding Safety Upgrades at Senior Centers Recommended by Finance Committee
MILWAUKEE – On Friday the County Board’s Finance Committee recommended for adoption a budget amendment sponsored by 1st Vice Chair Sequanna Taylor that would allocate funds towards security system upgrades and backup generators across county senior centers as well as lighting upgrades at the McGovern Park Senior Center.
“As the Supervisor on Commission on Aging, it is important to ensure that I am listening and working for those in our community who have paved the way for us all,” said 1st Vice-Chair Taylor. “Our senior centers are places seniors in Milwaukee County need to feel comfortable, and utilization goes hand in hand with safety. Thank you to the Finance Committee for passing this amendment. I hope my colleagues on the full County Board will see the importance of this funding as well.”
The amendment would allocate $125,000 to improve lighting outside the McGovern Park Senior Center and adjacent park areas.
The amendment would also put $64,320 towards backup power generators for senior centers operated by Milwaukee County.
The Board of Supervisors will meet to adopt the 2023 Milwaukee County budget on Thursday, November 10 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be livestreamed on the County Legislative Information Center (CLIC).
