Public safety technology partnership aims to make the community safer

This morning I had the privilege of joining Police Chief Jeffrey Norman, Havenwoods Business Improvement District Board Chair Steve Hentzen and Josh Thomas of Flock Safety to announce a new partnership aimed at making the Havenwoods community a safer place.

The Havenwoods Business Improvement District and Flock Safety will be partnering to bring automated license plate reading cameras to the 9th District to help combat reckless driving, among other crimes, and provide police with objective evidence and real-time alerts. I’m thrilled that our district will be able to utilize this technology which has helped reduce crime by up to 70% in other communities, and has proven successful elsewhere in our city.

This is a fantastic example of a public-private partnership that can help improve the quality of life in our community, and I want to thank all of those involved in this effort as we work collaboratively to make Milwaukee a safer place for all residents.

Lastly, I want to encourage other BIDs to look into creating this type of partnership so we can greatly expand the coverage area.
