Social innovation contest will award $25,000 in seed money
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University’s Social Innovation Initiative, in partnership with Brady Corporation, is accepting applications for the 2014 Good Money Challenge, which will award $25,000 in seed money to enterprises or ideas with the potential to change the community.
Formerly known as the Midwest Social Innovation Start-up Challenge, the Good Money Challenge is free and open to the public – online applications will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 26. Ten finalists will present and pitch their ideas at a reception and awards event on Friday, Nov. 7.
Judges will evaluate project proposals, submissions and final pitches using five criteria: 1) clarity around the social problem, target population and the innovative approach; 2) demonstration of a high probability of success; 3) potential impact, including plans for implementation and growth; 4) economic feasibility and financial viability; and 5) ability to attack the root causes of the social problem.
The top three teams receive prize money – $14,000, $7,000 and $3,000, respectively. Additionally, an audience choice winner will receive $1,000. All winning teams will receive mentorship support from Brady Corporation.
